Chad Thevenot, Executive Director at Institute for Humane Studies (IHS)

Chad Thevenot is a management executive who works with investors, board members, and leadership teams to identify and manage the strategies, talent, and resources required for building and scaling high-impact initiatives. With more than 20 years of nonprofit management experience, Chad has dedicated his career to unleashing the full potential of individuals to create a more just, peaceful, and prosperous world.

Currently, Chad serves as the executive director of the Institute for Humane Studies (IHS), where he partners with professors around the country to encourage the study and advancement of freedom. He has overseen the dramatic growth of IHS, increasing its annual revenue fivefold from $3.8 million in 2004 to $18.9 million in 2017. And he has led innovation throughout IHS, including the creation of Learn Liberty, one of the largest and most recognized brands for engaging college students with the ideas of a free and open society.

Chad holds a Master’s Degree in Communications, Culture, and Technology from Georgetown University and a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management from the University of Texas in Austin. He lives in Falls Church, Virginia, with his wife and three children. Born and raised in Louisiana, Chad loves cooking Cajun food. He is an avid cyclist and film buff. In an earlier life, he led a rock band, performed hundreds of shows, and recorded two full-length albums.
